"I’m a 28-year-old content marketer from Scotland, who lived in London for 4 years before moving to Sydney last year. I struggled with my weight and self-confidence for as long as I can remember; as a result, suffered from disordered eating habits and my weight often yo-yoed from one extreme to the other. When I moved to London about 5 years ago I was at the heaviest I had ever been and my confidence was at an all-time low. I decided to make some changes and became very invested in fitness and nutrition, losing 17kgs and improving my relationship with food and myself.
Alongside fitness and nutrition, writing is another big passion of mine, so I often write about my fitness journey, self-confidence issues and other life experiences on my blog."
"Since moving to Sydney I’ve become much more interested in weight training and decided to further challenge myself by doing a 12-week cut with my coach James (@jimmy_pip_pt on Instagram). I prepped to the condition I was in the photoshoot I did with Lyndon and was really pleased with the results, losing around 8kgs and 7% body fat for the shoot."
Kate's key to a maintaining her healthy lifestyle:
"I’ve been that person who is very unhappy with the way they look and desperate to find a magic pill to lose weight. It wasn’t until I tried every diet under the sun and every weight loss product imaginable that I realised that losing weight really is simple. Eat whole foods, get enough protein in your diet, make sure you’re moving enough, and eat in a calorie deficit. Depriving yourself of entire food groups is only going to create an unhealthy relationship with food, and diet supplements like skinny teas just do not work. I learned the hard way but I hate seeing people being misled by people on social media or brands only in it for money. Keep it simple. Consistency is key."
Kate Talks Cravings:
"Because of my past disordered eating habits I don’t feel I should deprive myself of anything, and neither should anyone else. You can enjoy the things you love to eat in moderation. My guilty pleasure is ice cream and I love Lindt dark chocolate with sea salt. However if I’m tracking my calories in a fat loss phase, I’ll often make a cacao smoothie or frozen yoghurt with banana, cacao powder and almond milk or low fat greek yoghurt - that way I can satisfy my chocolate cravings with a lower calorie treat of more nutritional value that will leave me feeling fuller."
Kate's ideal gym circuit:
"I prefer weight lifting over cardio because I find it fun and love seeing myself getting stronger and making progress. Today was lower body day and I did 5 sets of 5 heavy barbell squats, 4x8 lying hamstring leg curl machine, 3x10 dumbbell Romanian deadlifts, 4x8 barbell hip thrusts and 3x10 hanging leg raises for core. Hip thrusts, squats and deadlifts are my favourite exercises to do."
Shooting With Kate:
"I’ve never done a photoshoot before so at first I was nervous about how it would turn out, but I had so much fun with Lyndon and now have some amazing photos to look back on and remind me of the hard work I put in. I’m so glad I wore a Hessian bikini for the shoot - they’re so comfortable and suit my figure really well. It’s hard to find ‘cheeky’ bikinis that fit well and equally, bikini tops that suit a smaller bust - this one really met those requirements and the photos in the Hessian bikini were some of my favourites! I’m obsessed with bikinis and I’ll definitely be buying some more Hessian pieces for my collection!"

Ladies, the weather is heating up which means bikini season is just around the corner! There’s already temptations of replacing gym sessions with beach walks. However, giving up resistance training could cause more damage than you think! Why resistance train?
Resistance training is crucial to maintaining a proper fitness routine. Your muscles will waste away without it. Once you’ve hit your twenties, muscle loss increases rapidly unless you work to maintain or build it. if you don’t use it, you lose it.
Only a few weeks off resistance training can cause muscle loss (if you’ve ever broken a bone you would already know this!).
